Pick Up: Learn Phrasal Verbs · Last updated: 27th of August 2026

Pick Up ("the app") is a phrasal-verb learning app. This policy explains what information the app collects, why, and what control you have over it.

Default use: no data collection at all

You do not need an account to use Pick Up. By default, the app is anonymous and works fully offline. All of your learning data — progress, streaks, session history, scores, and settings — is stored only on your device and is never transmitted anywhere, in this version or any future one, without your explicit opt-in.

The app does not use analytics software, advertising identifiers, crash-reporting tied to a personal identifier, location data, or access to your contacts.

Optional: joining the weekly tournament

If you choose to join the global tournament from the Leaderboard tab, you create an account. At that point, and only then, the app collects and transmits:

DataPurposeWhere it's stored
Email address & passwordSign-in for your accountFirebase Authentication (Google Cloud) only — never mirrored in our database
Public alias (username)Displayed on the leaderboardOur database (Cloud Firestore)
Weekly points & correct-answer countLeaderboard rankingOur database (Cloud Firestore)
Timestamp of last updateTie-breaking / anti-cheatOur database (Cloud Firestore)

That's the complete list. We do not store your answer history, per-question timings, device identifiers, or any other learning data on our servers — those remain local to your device even after you register.

Your chosen alias is permanent and cannot be changed after registration; the app tells you this before you confirm it.

Data we never collect

Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties. Your email address is held by Firebase Authentication (a Google Cloud service we use as our authentication provider) solely to let you sign in, and is never exposed on the leaderboard or to other users. Google processes this data on our behalf as our service provider; see Google's Privacy Policy for how Google handles data it processes.

Data retention & deletion

You can delete your tournament account at any time from Settings. Doing so removes your alias reservation, your leaderboard entries (current and archived), and your account record. Your local on-device learning progress is not affected by this and remains on your device.

Uninstalling the app removes all local data stored by the app. If you never registered for the tournament, uninstalling leaves nothing behind anywhere.

Prefer not to use the in-app option, or can't access the app? You can request deletion of your tournament account by emailing cassiolemos.app@outlook.com.au from the address associated with your account. We'll confirm once it's been removed.

Children's privacy

Pick Up does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The optional tournament requires an email address to register; if you believe a child has registered an account, contact us using the details below and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same address with a revised "last updated" date.

Terms of Use

This document reflects the data practices described in the app's own technical spec — it is not legal advice, and if you're targeting the EU/UK (GDPR) or California (CCPA) specifically, or expect children under 13 as users (COPPA), it's worth a quick review by someone qualified, since those add specific disclosure/consent requirements this draft doesn't attempt to cover.
